The comments on this piece are interesting, but most of what you say reflects my experience. The worst thing to do (and biggest time waster) is making excuses for the other person’s lack of commitment. I’m going to be sure to advise my daughters never to do that. If you want to casually date, that’s fine. But beware of those who hold on to you, but keep you at a distance. If you aren’t moving forward it’s not going anywhere. My husband and I knew immediately when we met that we wanted to commit and even living on opposite sides of the country didn’t stop us.
