Did you forget how to get dressed too?
I made a best-dressed list once, in 6th grade. How disappointed 12-year-old me would be with how far I’ve fallen from that early peak.
In the past year, the decline was mind-boggling steep.
It began last March. I’d wear the same outfits for days. Even calling them outfits is a stretch. The finishing touch on most days was a pair of socks, chosen for comfort and cleanliness, but rarely color. I stopped wearing jewelry, make-up, and anything that had to be ironed or dry cleaned. Dresses, skirts, jackets, and blouses were never chosen, only t-shirts, leggings, jeans, and sweatshirts. I did a couple of Zoom calls in pajamas.
Some days I didn’t make it out of my fleece bathrobe the entire day.
(Let’s not act like I’m the only one.)
This winter, when I got cold, I’d put my bathrobe back on over my clothes as an added layer of warmth. And then when it was time to cook dinner, I’d just put an apron on right over that.
