It should pointed out that, at least in the US, plant-based meat products can be expensive compared to burgers made from cows because that industry is subsidized by the government!

Otherwise, there would be no way even the most highly processed plant-based burger would cost more than those made from cows — who have been fed, given water and (albeit it shoddily) housed — from birth to 6 months of age when they are slaughtered.
