I absolutely agree that our relationship with our parents influences how we are in our relationship as an adult. My husband was abandoned by his mom when it comes to writing about relationships he likes to say he is my muse. He gives me lots of material!

Obviously, I don't believe a negative relationship with a parent has to doom a person's future partnership, but it does help to understand it.
